The Addams Family 2 Review: A Kookier and Fun Sequel Worth Watching

The Addams Family are back and this time they are hitting the road to deliver a creepier and kookier sequel.

Hoping to get closer as a family, Gomez, Morticia and the rest of the Addams clan embark on an adventurous road trip in a hideous and humongous camper.

One of the beloved families in entertainment history is The Addams Family. With decades of entertaining stories under their belt, they still manage to be entertaining every time we see them. If you enjoyed the 2019 animated movie then you will most likely enjoy The Addams Family 2. It was great to see that the sequel kept its originality, humor, and kookiness from the first film which helped create familiarity and continuity.

The storyline was every bit as fun and enjoyable, with a few bumps here and there, and still kept that Addams magic fans love. There is something here for everyone, kids and adults alike. I will admit when I first saw the art style with the first film, it looked rather quirky but after watching the film I rather enjoyed it and this sequel brings that same quirky art style that is perfect for the Addams. The animation is great and consistent and there is an abundance of great detail in every scene.

With The Addams Family 2 being an animated film, having a good voice cast is critical to the film’s believability and they definitely picked the right actors for the job. The voice cast is so well cast for their individual roles and it’s quite an impressive ensemble, with returning cast members Oscar Isaac, Charlize Theron, Chloe Grace Moretz, Nick Kroll, and Bette Midler and newcomers Javon “ Wanna” Walton (replacing Finn Wolfhard as Pugsley Addams), Bill Hader and Wallace Shawn.

Overall, The Addams Family 2 is an animated film that is perfect for the Halloween season and hits all the right buttons to become an entertaining addition to a family movie night. And depending on how the day-date theatrical/digital release goes, there will hopefully be more adventure in the not too distant future.

The Addams Family 2 is now playing in theaters and On Demand.
