From the director of Insidious and The Conjuring comes the next chilling and spine-tingling chapter based on the case files of Ed and Lorraine Warren, The Conjuring 2, now playing in theaters.

Husband-and-wife paranormal investigators Ed (Patrick Wilson) and Lorraine Warren (Vera Farmiga) help a single mother living in 1977 London, who claims that she and her children are being terrorized by supernatural forces. Frances O’Connor, Franka Potente, and Simon McBurney co-star. This horror sequel was penned by sibling screenwriting duo Chad and Carey Hayes, and directed by James Wan.

Patrick Wilson is great in the role of Ed Warren, playing him with such commitment and passion that his performance just shines on screen. Vera Farmiga is just phenomenal as Lorraine Warren, playing her with just heart and dedication that she just embodies and truly becomes the character. The chemistry between Wilson and Farmiga is electric and the way they play off of each other is beautiful and heartwarming.

Frances O’Connor takes on the role of mother Peggy Hodgson, and is very convincing when it’s time for her to be scared for her life and the life of her daughter when things start to go bump in the night and is a true talent. Now, the standout of this film is definitely Madison Wolfe, taking on the role Janet Hodgson and just shines in her performance. She is perfectly creepy when she is acting possessed, and just generally looks terrified throughout the film. Wolfe is sure to be a rising star.

The scares in this film are truly 10 times more terrifying than the previous film and they are perfectly placed and not at all overbearing, which just adds to the fear factor. James Wan is a true master at his craft and knows how to make a good, terrifying, original, and entertaining horror flick that will have you at the edge of your seat. If you are looking for a good, creepy, and ultimately terrifying film, go see The Conjuring 2, and please don’t see it alone. And you can see Vera Farmiga on Bates Motels on A&E.
