Uncharted (2022) Review: A Fun, Action Adventure Film With Tom Holland Leading The Charge

Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg star in Uncharted, a fun, entertaining, and action-packed adaptation of the popular video game franchise.

Treasure hunter Victor “Sully” Sullivan (Mark Wahlberg) recruits street-smart Nathan Drake (Tom Holland) to help him recover a 500-year-old lost fortune amassed by explorer Ferdinand Magellan

For someone who has never played the game, but was somewhat familiar with the concept I was very impressed with this film. It hasn’t always been easy taking a popular video game and turning it into a live-action film, but director Ruben Fleischer definitely delivered a wholesome and entertaining action-adventure that delivers a fast-paced adventure that will make die-hard fans happy.

Uncharted combines fast action, great adventures, and fun characters much like films like Indiana Jones and National Treasure. This movie has a little something for everyone. Tom Holland leads the film very well and is accompanied by some awesome actors like Antonio Banderas, Sophia Ali, Tati Gabrielle, and Mark Wahlberg. Holland is just as charming as ever, and his chemistry with Wahlberg is perfect. Wahlberg is his usual charismatic self, but that is why we love to watch him.

Video games make the action more involved and complex, with plenty of moments to immerse gamers and blow our minds with traps and stunts. Uncharted does a good job at mirroring that, bringing chase moments, gun play, and combat fighting that holds up. The stunts are performed brilliantly, and they also have some personality to them, while still keeping the fast-paced element people what to see in action movies. The music in the film is something like Pirates of the Caribbean, where it adds spirit and excitement to the background.

Now puzzles are a key part of these types of films, alongside the traps that go with them. They may not be as intricate, layered, or really even that deadly, Uncharted does design some fun clues and tests For Nathan and his homies to figure out.

Overall, Uncharted is a pretty good video game adaptation. It’s fun, feeling very much like an adventure movie that has the spirit of action and big thrills that we’ve come to expect. The puzzles are fun, the characters are great, and the acting makings for an entertaining film that should make audiences happy.

Uncharted is now playing only in theaters.
