A Quiet Place Part 2 Review: Was Well Worth The Wait

After being delayed for over a year due to the pandemic, the time has finally come to witness A Quiet Place: Part 2 the way it was meant to be seen: on the big screen in stunning IMAX format.

Following the deadly events at home, the Abbott family must now face the terrors of the outside world as they continue their fight for survival in silence. Forced to venture into the unknown, they quickly realize that the creatures that hunt by sound are not the only threats that lurk beyond the sand path.

A Quiet Place: Part 2 was well worth the wait. Yes, we had to wait over a year for it because theaters were closed due to the ongoing pandemic but now theaters are open and this movie did not disappoint. The film was extremely entertaining and kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. It’s even more thrilling and suspenseful than its predecessor. It’s bigger and faster while still managing to create tension in a way that keeps the viewers silent, especially when there is no sound from the film.

John Krasinski isn’t just a fantastic actor, he is also a great filmmaker. He has a way of keeping moviegoers silent with his writing, directing, and the use of the film’s score and sound effects. It’s a pretty brilliant film. This film had a very high standard to live up to and it did so flawlessly. The nostalgia, the stress, and the anxiety present within each scene create a beautiful blend of new faces and old references.

Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, and Noah Jupe all return to reprise their roles (Krasinski reprises his role as well, but only in the film’s opening flashback sequence), with Cillian Murphy joining the cast as a former family friend Emmett. Blunt’s performance is brilliant, as is Murphy’s. But it really is Simmonds and Jupe who really shine, perfectly portraying the vulnerability and fear of kids going through adolescence.

A Quiet Place: Part 2 is a nerve-wracking continuation that expands the terrifying world of the franchise without losing track of its heart. Krasinski made the right call when he decided to shelve the movie last year because this film deserves to been seen on the big screen.

A Quiet Place: Part 2 is now playing in theaters and will be available to stream on Paramount+ on 45 days on July 12.

What did you think of the film? Sound off in the comments.
